Things I have bought that are currently sitting in my rucksack awaiting being taken around the world.

1)A sleeping bag.
Apparently, this can 'keep me cool over 15 degrees, and keep me warm above -1'. What?!!?! Also, it neatly folds up into a tiny bag. I say folds up, It came in a bag that size, I unfolded it when I brought it home. There's not a hope it's going back in that bag...

2)A human sized bag made of sheet in natty blue tartan.
Why i need this is still a mystery to me. However, I presume it'll come in handy when we accidentally end up murdering a drifter after Laura laces our supper with PCP.

3)A microfleece.
This thing is only magic. It weighs about as much as a t-shirt, but when you put it on, it's instantly too hot. No matter what the climate is. Middle of siberia in winter, this thing is going to be too hot.

4)A knife, fork and spoon set.
I like to eat, I'm not leaving this to chance.

5)An enamel mug.
This was Sinead's idea. I can in no way claim credit for it. But it means we can drink coffee at any time of day or night. Which is the dream, really.

6)The SAS survival guide (pocket edition)
When our plane crashes in Ulan Bator, we'll be able to construct a shelter, make fire, trap bears, make medicine from plants and seeds, and even make a 13 screen multiplex.

7)iPod external battery pack.
No matter how much you want to talk about the effect of globalisation on tribal culture in Ecuador, I can tune you out, motherfucker. Then I'm gonna throw batteries at you.

8)Books.
Norman Mailer - The Naked and The Dead.
John Irving - The World According to Garp.
(anyone any other suggestions?)
