Darwin Sucks!

It's now Wednesday. I arrived in Darwin on Monday afternoon. By teatime on Monday I had seen all of Darwin "city" - it's probably not even as big as Longford and boasts such tourist attractions as oil storage tanks left over from World War 2 and fish that come in to shore to feed...
Yesterday I got a bike and cycled all day (why haven't saddles been redesigned yet??). I saw East Point Reserve - a nice spit of land to the north west of the city. I also saw another kangaroo (that makes one dead one and two live ones so far). My hostel is nice, but too quiet for me right now.
Today I'm full of plans to go to a crocodile park.
I hold my hands up - I'm probably a wee bit biased because I had a great time in Perth and am not really giving Darwin a real chance. However, it's not on my list of must-come-back-to places for sure.

It still doesn't make my list of top destinations, but the staff at Gecko were cool (Blatantly sucking up because I gave Andy (Hi Andy!) a bumbling world card before I left!)

Darwin does suck! I recently moved up here (not by choice) and you're exactly right that it only takes one day for you to see the sights!

Add to that the fact that the local newspaper (The NT News) is the most ridiculous excuse for journalism I've ever seen and that Darwinites drive like maniacs, and you've got yourself one backwards town.

And Anonymous, people from 'down south' take the jobs up here because hardly anyone born in Darwin works! They're all too busy fishing and drinking beer to get off their asses and seek out the massive amount of job opportunities that exist up here.

I can't wait until I get to move back 'down south' and live in a real capital city.

Yep Darwin sucks!!!! Too expensive for a backward town and the wages are not any higher than what I am earning down south. I tried to get the Darwin lifestyle for 5 years but I'm not into wasting my life away sitting in a pool drinking beer.

Unknown, absolutely correct make it quick and get out...in the same boat can pull the pin and move, the government is useless and have no backbone and no wish to move forward, just want to bank their salary. The place is now a back water, don't know why anyone would want to relocate to here when it is so much cheaper in better cities south of here.
